LaSalle Parole and Probation Differences
Illinois supervision cannot be reduced to one label. Traditional discretionary parole mainly concerns legacy indeterminate sentences for crimes from before the determinate-sentencing system. Most modern IDOC sentences lead to mandatory supervised release, or MSR, after the legally required prison portion. Probation is imposed by the court and administered locally.
| Feature | Parole or MSR | Probation |
|---|---|---|
| Starting point | Release from an IDOC prison sentence into state supervision | A circuit-court sentence or condition |
| Supervising system | IDOC Parole Division; conditions and certain decisions involve PRB | LaSalle County Court Services/Probation |
| Public starting record | IDOC profile with status, location, Parole Date, and projected discharge | Circuit Clerk docket and sentencing order |
| End point | Final discharge from the state sentence and supervision | Court-ordered completion or discharge from probation |
| Not proof | A hearing calendar or projected date alone | A jail release entry alone |
- Parole
- Supervised release under the state corrections structure, often used for legacy indeterminate cases.
- MSR
- Mandatory supervised release that follows the custodial part of most modern determinate IDOC sentences.
- Probation
- Court-ordered community supervision administered through county Court Services.
- Absconder
- A supervised person alleged to have stopped reporting or left supervision without authorization; it does not mean discharge.
- Final discharge
- The formal end of the sentence and supervision.
Verify LaSalle Post-Release Supervision
Start with the source that created the supervision. An IDOC profile does not serve as a complete county probation lookup, and Court Services does not hold IDOC parole files. Use an IDOC number when available because it is more precise than a name. For probation, begin with the court case number and sentencing order.
- Identify whether the sentence is county probation, IDOC parole/MSR, or a legacy parole matter.
- For IDOC, record Offender Status, Location, Parole Date, Projected Discharge Date, and every sentence-discharge flag.
- For probation, read the LaSalle County sentencing order and contact Court Services for the proper administrative route.
- For traditional or youthful parole, compare the PRB agenda with the later approved minutes or decision.
- For an alleged violation, check the separate revocation schedule and results page. An arrest or schedule entry is not a revocation ruling.
- Request the decision, revocation order, or final-discharge order when documentary proof is needed.
There is no verified separate public LaSalle County general parole database, and no reliable official directory maps the county to a named street-level IDOC parole office. Use the location on the person's public profile or contact IDOC at 217-558-2200. Do not guess an office assignment.
LaSalle County Probation Office
LaSalle County Court Services/Probation administers local probation. A probation order may follow a jail release, but the office does not confirm an IDOC prison release or act as custodian of parole records.

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The official county listing shows the office's local address, telephone, and schedule.
Use the court case number when asking which route applies. Staff disclosure remains subject to law, court rules, and the nature of the requested record.
LaSalle Parole Hearing Records
The Illinois Prisoner Review Board is separate from IDOC. PRB sets parole and MSR conditions, conducts violation and revocation proceedings, decides traditional indeterminate parole and certain youthful matters, and reviews some early or final discharge requests. Its monthly operations calendar lists facility hearing dates and codes. Sheridan may appear when a matter is scheduled.
A calendar or agenda proves only scheduling. Traditional and youthful En Banc results appear in approved minutes after approval at a later meeting, so publication has built-in lag. Minutes can identify the case, motion, vote, grant or denial, set length, and stated rationale. A continued or deferred matter is not a denial.
The PRB operations page provides the monthly calendar path.
After locating the hearing, move to the approved minutes or formal order for the outcome, then confirm the current status with IDOC.
LaSalle Supervision Violations and Warrants
Conditions may govern reporting, travel, contact, treatment, and other conduct stated in the governing order. An alleged breach can lead to investigation, arrest, a violation hearing, changed conditions, return to release, or revocation. These are distinct stages. An arrest for an alleged violation does not prove that PRB revoked supervision.
PRB can find a violation and return the person to release with or without added conditions. It may find no violation and resume release after plan approval. It can also revoke release, after which IDOC recalculates the sentence and a later release date. The revocation schedule and results page must be read separately.
An absconder or fugitive remains under legal control and is not finally discharged. IDOC's public wanted-fugitives page was not shown to be a complete or county-filterable LaSalle list, and no official LaSalle-specific public warrant list was found. A no-result cannot clear warrant or supervision status. Obtain authoritative confirmation from the responsible court, IDOC, or PRB record.
Ending LaSalle County Supervision
A Parole Date generally marks prison exit into supervision. It is not the final end of IDOC authority. The Projected Discharge Date looks toward that later endpoint and can change. Final discharge requires the applicable sentence and supervision to end through the proper state process.
PRB may grant early or final discharge where law and policy allow. Its review can consider compliance, progress, risk and needs, case factors, victim input, public safety, and the IDOC Parole recommendation. A final-discharge order ends supervision. For probation, use the circuit-court record to establish completion or discharge under the court's order.
If an IDOC profile has disappeared after sentence completion, use the agency's archived Record Search or FOIA route. Provide the full name, date of birth, approximate year received by IDOC, and any known facility or conviction details. The LaSalle County released-inmate search explains how that record fits with the county jail and court trail.
Sheridan Release Supervision Trail
Sheridan Correctional Center sits in LaSalle County but operates within IDOC, not the county jail system. A supervised person may remain visible in the statewide public search with a past Parole Date, status such as PAROLE, a parole-district Location, and a future Projected Discharge Date. Those fields document different milestones.
After final sentence completion, the public profile may disappear and require the IDOC archive route. The LaSalle iSOMS portal cannot prove release from Sheridan, while an IDOC profile does not archive a jail-only stay. Follow each custody episode through the authority that created it.
The official Sheridan facility page identifies the state institution and its role.
For a Sheridan release, use IDOC status and PRB records where applicable rather than the county's recent jail feed.
Documents After Sheridan Release
IDOC's FY2025 report documents Sheridan assistance with Social Security cards, birth certificates, state identification, and Social Security applications. This purpose-neutral document work can help prepare a person leaving state custody for supervised release.
The assistance is not evidence of a completed release and does not establish supervision status. Confirm prison exit through the IDOC profile or record, and confirm final discharge through the proper state order. It also does not describe services attached to a LaSalle County Jail release.
Support During LaSalle Supervision
The LaSalle County Jail resources page links local recovery supports. Perfectly Flawed separately lists peer-support contact and a weekday drop-in location in La Salle. Sheridan's treatment program coordinates pre-release staffing with parole agents for qualifying participants, creating another local connection between release planning and supervision.
These services are voluntary support channels, not supervision databases or release-proof systems. Participation cannot establish parole, probation, compliance, or discharge. Use the court, IDOC, or PRB record for status, and use support organizations only for their stated assistance.
LaSalle Parole Data Context
IDOC's CY2025 fact sheet reports 94 parolees residing in LaSalle County, equal to 0.69 percent of the statewide parole population. This is a dated aggregate, not a live list of people. Residence county may differ from conviction county, the prison of release, and the place of an earlier jail stay.
Use the figure only for local context. It cannot verify any person's supervision or identify the assigned office. The individual IDOC profile, sentence record, PRB order, or court order remains the relevant evidence.
